My initial plan for this album wasn't for it to be an album at all. It was supposed to be an EP crammed to the brim with club bangers to keep ya'll feets dancin' while I decided which direction I wanted to go in next.

But life had other plans. Said plans including (but not limited to) a global pandemic, the death of a friend and the end of a relationship that defined my young adulthood. All of which left me, to quote Ms. Jackson, all alone with my fears. This album became an outlet to express and confront things I couldn't otherwise articulate, a way to get out of the emotional abyss in which I found myself. To reflect on where I am in life as a 34-year-old black gay man.

While that process is still ongoing, as I listen back to the album now, it feels like I've moved on into a much better headspace. And if ya'll ain't tryin' to hear all that, the tracks still slap m'kay?!
